Summary
React Native developer with five years building and shipping production apps across iOS and Android. Six live on the App Store and Play Store with more than ten thousand combined downloads. Comfortable owning a project end to end: architecture, state, navigation, API and GraphQL integration, payments, CI/CD and store release. Experienced migrating legacy codebases onto the New Architecture and writing custom native modules in Kotlin and Swift.
Experience
Software Developer, Inara Consultancy Services
January 2022 to present
Joined as a developer. First production work: a social app on Firestore with Cloud Messaging push on both platforms. Posts, follows, chat and stories taught me more about permissions and third-party libraries than any tutorial had.
Streaming and live events. Built the full auth flow, deep linking for both platforms, and custom video playback with offline series downloads. Event traffic arrives all at once, which changes how you think about what has to work before the network answers.
Rider and driver apps. Built from scratch against a GraphQL backend, with background geolocation, animated ride-progress markers and Stripe payments. Also the year I started taking React Query seriously.
Legacy modernisation. Took several client codebases up to current React Native, through the dependency and native-level breaking changes, converting class components to functional ones with full TypeScript coverage and adding Jest and Testing Library along the way.
Release automation and native modules. Set up GitHub Actions and Fastlane so builds, code signing and store releases stopped being a person. Wrote the Android half of a Firebase push library in Kotlin, which is where the native module habit started.
Still at Inara, still shipping. Owning projects end to end, mentoring the interns through live work and code review, and building on the current edge of the stack in my own time.
Shipped
- VM AcademyA multi-skill learning platform. Three repositories, one API, one database.
- KasotiA mock-test app for one exam candidate, built as a real monorepo anyway.
- SamaA calm habit app, designed on paper before a line of it was written.
- The R&I GuysA social product on both stores, TypeScript from the first commit.
- MultitaxTax filing on a phone, where the form is a tree rather than a form.
- LexVidContinuing legal education video that keeps working on a train.
Open source
Google Places autocomplete as a real native module, not a JavaScript wrapper. Built on the official Google Places SDKs, Kotlin on Android and Swift on iOS, as a Turbo Module for the New Architecture. Published to npm under MIT.
Firebase Cloud Messaging native module. Built the Android side in Kotlin: permission requests, text-sm text-accent-texten registration, and foreground and background message handling.
